Peter Andreas Thiel (born October 11, 1967) is an American entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and political activist. Born in Frankfurt, West Germany, Thiel holds American citizenship.
Career
Thiel co-founded PayPal, a global online payments system, and was its CEO until it was acquired by eBay in 2002. He then founded Clarium Capital, a global macro hedge fund, and later Palantir Technologies, a data analytics company. He is also an early investor in Facebook, Airbnb, and SpaceX.
Political Activism
Thiel is known for his political activism, particularly his support of libertarian and conservative causes. He has donated to various political candidates and organizations, and has spoken out on issues such as immigration, free speech, and the dangers of "wokeness" in society.
