Three Memphis basketball staff members no longer with the program

Former Tigers’ coach Penny Hardaway is now coaching the Dallas Mavericks.

Penny Hardaway stepped down as the head coach of the Memphis Tigers men's basketball team in March 2022. During his seven seasons leading the program, Hardaway led Memphis to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the Elite Eight in 2021.

Former Tigers’ assistant coach Larry Brown is now retired from coaching.

Larry Brown stepped down as the assistant coach of the Memphis Tigers men’s basketball team in April 2022. Brown spent two seasons as an assistant coach under Penny Hardaway. Before joining Memphis, Brown was the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, Indiana Pacers, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Former Tigers’ assistant coach Sam Mitchell is now an assistant coach with the Toronto Raptors.

Sam Mitchell stepped down as the assistant coach of the Memphis Tigers men’s basketball team in April 2022. Mitchell spent two seasons as an assistant coach under Penny Hardaway. Mitchell was the head coach of the Toronto Raptors from 2004 to 2008.
